What is a core?
A core is a used original manufactured automotive part that can have a “second life” after being remanufactured. Certain types of auto parts can be recycled or more specifically, remanufactured or rebuildable for future sale. The “core” simply put is your old part.
Some common core parts include:
- Batteries
- Brake calipers
- Starters
- Alternators
- Cylinder Heads
- Brake master cylinders
- Power steering pumps
- AC Compressors
- Transmissions
- Engines
- Differentials
- Transfer Cases
The process of remanufacturing the used parts means completely disassembling and thoroughly cleaning them, replacing the faulty and/or worn components with original quality components, and restoring them to original functions. The testing and procedures are the same as the original equipment manufacturers.
Not only does it keep the cost down of the remanufactured product by returning a core but you can help save the environment by keeping approximately 54,000 tons of cores out of landfills annually.
Go Powertrain does not charge an upfront core charge most of the time (some exceptions apply such as non-US orders and cores more than $800). Once you are done with the old part, notify us. We will cover the return shipping cost, send you the appropriate paperwork, and arrange a truck to pick it up.
You can notify us multiple ways that your core is ready for pickup.
