The 6R140: A Super Heavy Duty Transmission
Keep your fleet running with this transmission! Go Powertrain offers 6R140 transmissions that are remanufactured by the best in the industry.
Backed by Go Powertrain’s 3-year, unlimited mileage, nationwide parts and labor warranty, this transmission comes ready to install and is dyno tested before shipping. The dry weight of the 6R140 is approximately 325 pounds and about 350 pounds when filled with transmission fluid.
The Ford TorqShift 6 transmission (AKA the 6R140 transmission) was designed to accompany both the 6.2L gas V8 and the 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engines starting in 2011 to present applications. Whether you have a Ford F250, F350, F450, or F550. It’s also the only transmission option for F-650 and F-750 trucks. This transmission is a beast and has a robust aluminum case. It has also been referenced as the “clean sheet” transmission design. Following in the 5R110W footsteps the 6R140 is the next step in technology for Ford’s HD transmission line.
It uses a different torque converter, clutch plates, frictions, and shift schedule software calibrations depending on the engine it is mated with. The 6R140 uses a single-piece, deep-skirted case which is quieter and saves weight. It also eliminates the possibility of fluid leak points at the joint points. Over time, both large and small contaminants are removed from the fluid, extending its maintenance cycle to 150,000 miles. For comparison, the current 5R110 has a 60,000-mile change interval. While OEM recommendations are for a long service interval we do recommend 80,000 mile fluid changes to ensure the fluid maintains its properties in keeping the transmission cool and lubricated.
